Booking on-line

You will need the prisoner’s full name, date of birth, prison number and prison.
Provide three alternative visit slots and you will get a confirmation email within three days.
It is still be possible to book visits by phoning the booking line but the new system should do much to overcome the frustration and waiting on the phone for hours that is currently experienced although if you are looking to book at short notice it may still be better to telephone where possible.

What is available for children?

All visitors under the age of 18 years are regarded as children and must visit accompanied by an adult. This is a requirement of the prison’s Child Protection Policy. Children under the age of 18 years must not be left on their own anywhere or at any time on the prison premises, including in the Visitors’ Centre or the car park.

There are outside and inside play areas for children in the Visitors’ Centre. Visitors are expected to supervise their own children in these areas.

There is another play area for visitors’ children to enjoy in the Visits Hall where there are toys and staff to help occupy the children. However the parent or adult who has brought in the child(ren) remains responsible for them throughout the visit and must stay in sight of their child(ren) at all times, including whilst they are in the play area.

Baby food can be purchased in the Visits Tea Bar. Nappy changing facilities are available in the Visitors’ Centre and in the Visits Hall. You will not be able to take spare nappies into the prison but, should your child require changing during a visit, you can obtain a nappy from the Visits staff.

What is available for visitors with disabilities?

• Free parking for disabled visitors is available close to the prison.
• There is a ramp into the Visitors’ Centre for wheelchair access.
• The doors at the Visitors’ Centre are operated by a push button.
• A wheelchair is kept at the Visitors’ Centre which disabled visitors may borrow to use during their visits. **
• A stair lift for wheelchairs is available to take visitors up to the Visits Hall.
• Visitors’ Centre staff will be happy to assist unaccompanied disabled visitors from their cars and into the prison. **
• There is a toilet specially adapted for disabled visitors in the Visitors’ Centre.

** If you need to borrow the wheelchair or you need assistance from your car please contact the Visitors’ Centre on: 01480 335 136
