Booking on-line
You can now book visits to this prison on-line without a Visiting Order (VO).
You will need the prisoner’s full name, date of birth, prison number and prison.
Provide three alternative visit slots and you will get a confirmation email within three days.
It is still be possible to book visits by phoning the booking line but the new system should do much to overcome the frustration and waiting on the phone for hours that is currently experienced although if you are looking to book at short notice it may still be better to telephone where possible.

Arriving at Featherstone

Book in at the Visit Centre on arrival.

Your ID will be checked and you will be issued with a photographic ID.

Please Note: No ID - NO ENTRY

Visitors are called to the main prison in groups, go through the search procedure and then into the Visit Hall.

You cannot take nappies, baby milk etc. into Visits, however nappies and milk are available for purchase in the Visit Hall


Parent and Child Facilities

  • Baby changing facilities in Visitors' Centre.
  • Nappies and wipes are not to be taken over to the Visits Hall, but are available free of charge from the visits hall tea bar.
  • Clear plastic bottle only to be taken over to the Visits Hall for babies: Baby milk is available to buy in Visits Hall.
  • Pushchairs and car seats are not allowed in the Visits Hall, they can be left in the Visitors' Centre.


Children's Facilities

  • Indoor and outdoor play area in visitors centre
  • Soft play area in visits hall.


Facilities for the disabled

  • Disabled parking spaces at the front of the Visitors’ Centre;
  • Ramp access into the Visitors' Centre;
  • Wheelchair provided in the centre and in visits hall upon request;
  • Access to visits hall via stair lift;
  • Disabled toilets in the Visitors' Centre.

Enhanced family visits days offered every 6 weeks for prisoner who have undertaking parenting craft courses.

Community Transport Service

A Community Transport service operates on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday picking up from Birmingham New Street railway station and Wolverhampton railway station.

Bookings for the service must be made in advance on 0800 316 9048 and service users must register using this free phone number before travel.

Return fares are applicable and can be paid to the driver on the day of travel.

Nearest Railway Station is Wolverhampton, complete rest of journey by bus.

Facilities at Wolverhampton Station: Waiting room, refreshments, toilets, baby changing facilities, pay phone and ATM. Step free access with passenger operated lifts.

The bus station is situated outside of the railway station and runs from Wolverhampton (Bus No. 70) at 13:10 and arrives at the establishment at approx 13:35, the bus will pick up at the establishment at approx 16:20 and return to Wolverhampton. Enquires: Arriva Midlands North on 01543 466 123.
There is no public bus service on a Sunday, however, the Community Transport Bus provides a service on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and alternate Sundays. Visitors must book in advance on 0800 316 9048
