Booking on-line
You can now book visits to this prison on-line without a Visiting Order (VO).
You will need the prisoner’s full name, date of birth, prison number and prison.
Provide three alternative visit slots and you will get a confirmation email within three days.
It is still be possible to book visits by phoning the booking line but the new system should do much to overcome the frustration and waiting on the phone for hours that is currently experienced although if you are looking to book at short notice it may still be better to telephone where possible.

Book in at the Visit Centre on arrival. Visitors are not allowed in to the prison after 15:00

Tokens must be bought for Visit Room refreshments - Yellow (£1.50) for food items and brown (40p) for drinks. Tokens cannot be exchanged or change given.

Prams and pushchairs are not allowed into Visits but the prison will lend one to a visitor if required. Baby bottle warmers are available in the Visits canteen.

TRAVEL INFORMATION


Rail:
There is a railway station at Market Harborough. Travel to the prison is then either by bus or taxi.

Facilities at Market Harborough Station: Waiting room, refreshments, toilets, baby changing facilities and pay phone. The station is step free with a ramp to platform 2 northbound. Staff assistance via foot crossing to platform 1 southbound

Bus:
There is a bus service from Market Harborough.
Arriva Route 44 runs Monday to Saturday from the station via the square to HMP Gartree.
The bus leaves the station at 37 minutes past the hour from 09:37  until 18:37.
The return service from Gartree to Market Harborough runs at 7 minutes past the hour from 08:07 until 18:07.

Free Taxi
The prison provides a free taxi service to and from the railway station on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors wishing to use it need to book their place by ringing Murphys taxis (01858 410210). The taxi leaves the station at 13:45 and leaves the prison after visits, once all visitors who have booked their place are ready to go.
