Highpoint North is the new name for Edmunds Hill

 

Booking on-line
You can now book visits to this prison on-line without a Visiting Order (VO).
You will need the prisoner’s full name, date of birth, prison number and prison.
Provide three alternative visit slots and you will get a confirmation email within three days.
It is still be possible to book visits by phoning the booking line but the new system should do much to overcome the frustration and waiting on the phone for hours that is currently experienced although if you are looking to book at short notice it may still be better to telephone where possible.

Ormiston Trust provide toys and books for the children's area

Edmunds Hill is currently carrying out a Visitor Survey to assess how visitors rate the facilities and following that the prison will be reviewing the booking system and visitor centre times; they will also be looking at improving the information given on the back of VOs.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

 

Bus:
A bus service operates directly to and from Bury St Edmunds Railway Station.

 

Rail:
There is no railway station close by. However, if you are travelling by rail you have 4 choices i.e. Cambridge, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Audley End. These 4 stations are between 20 and 45 minutes from Edmunds Hill. 

Facilities at Cambridge Station: Waiting room, refreshments, toilets, baby changing facilities, pay phone and ATM. The whole station is step free.

Facilities at Newmarket Station: Pay phone. The whole station is step free.

Facilities at Bury St Edmunds Station: Waiting room, refreshments, toilets, baby changing facilities, pay phone and ATM. The station is step free (with a lift).

Facilities at Audley End Station: Refreshments, toilets and pay phone. Step free London bound only.

Coach from London
On Sundays a coach goes from London to HMP Edmunds Hill. You need to book with Abba Coaches (0208 6926636). Pick-up points are as follows;

10:30 All Saints Church, New Cross SE14
10:45 Elephant & Castle (outside Tabernacle)
11:00 155 Bishopsgate (outside Liverpool Street Station)
11:10 Mile End Road (opposite Mile End Tube Station)
11:20 Stratford Bus Station
11:30 Redbridge Tube Station
13:15 Arrive at Edmunds Hill

The coach leaves at 16:00 to return to London

Suffolk Links Three Towns operates from 0700 to 1900, Mondays to Saturdays (except Public Holidays). The bus will take you to Newmarket, Haverhill or any of the villages within the Three Towns service area. Connections can be made for onwards travel to places further afield such as Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Newmarket or Sudbury.
 
How do I book a journey?
Simply call 01638 664 304 up to a week before you wish to travel and book your journey. The booking service is open from 0800 to 1600, Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays), making it easier for you to plan ahead.
 
Who runs the service?
Suffolk Links Three Towns is operated by The Voluntary Network.

Suffolk Links Three Towns borders with Suffolk Links Brecks to the north. Suffolk Links Three Towns serves an area that covers the villages between Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Newmarket.
 
Buses:
Suffolk Links Three Towns can provide connections with the bus services detailed below, or take you direct when no buses are available, just ask the operator when you ring 01638 664 304.
Other buses include:
  • 14, 15: Hourly service between Bury St Edmunds, Chedburgh and Haverhill;
  • 311, 312: Every two hours between Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Exning;
  •  351: Three times a day between Great Bradley, Withersfield and Haverhill;

Connections can be made for onwards travel to places further afield such as Ipswich or Felixstowe.
 
How do I book a journey?
Simply call 0845 604 1802 up to a week before you wish to travel and book your journey. The booking service is open from 0815 to 1600, Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays), making it easier for you to plan ahead.
 
Who runs the service?
Suffolk Links Wilford is operated by Coastal Accessible Transport Services (CATS).
 
Connections with other bus services
Suffolk Links Wilford serves an area that covers Bawdsey, Hollesley, Orford, Rendlesham, Sutton, Woodbridge and villages in between. The service also connects with Suffolk Links Alde to the north and west.
 
Buses:
Suffolk Links Wilford can provide connections with the bus services detailed below, or take you direct when no buses are available, just ask the operator when you ring 0845 604 1802.
Other buses include:
  • 63: Every two hours between Framlingham, Woodbridge and Ipswich;
  • 64: Every hour between Aldeburgh, Leiston, Saxmundham, Woodbridge and Ipswich;
  • 65: Every two hours between Rendlesham, Woodbridge and Ipswich;
  • 165: Every hour between Aldeburgh, Rendlesham, Woodbridge and Ipswich.
