Booking on-line
You can now book visits to this prison on-line without a Visiting Order (VO).
You will need the prisoner’s full name, date of birth, prison number and prison.
Provide three alternative visit slots and you will get a confirmation email within three days.
It is still be possible to book visits by phoning the booking line but the new system should do much to overcome the frustration and waiting on the phone for hours that is currently experienced although if you are looking to book at short notice it may still be better to telephone where possible.

Booking on-line can only be done if you are registered on the system as a visitor for that prisoner. All visitors must be registered before an on-line booking can be made.

For more information, or to book a visit, go to:

Details are checked at the Visitors' Centre and visitors are issued with a numbered ticket. This determines the order in which Visitors go through the ID and search processes, which will start at approx 1:30pm.

You must book into the Visitors’ Centre no later than 10.30hrs for morning enhanced visits and no later than 2.30pm for afternoon social visits.

Clothing can be handed in or out at Visitors Centre before visit. No cash, cheques or postal orders accepted.

Baby Bottles are allowed in Visit Hall although they must be empty. Most milk formulas are available from tea bar, along with juices, rusks etc. If your baby has special requirements please contact visitors centre. Nappies can’t be taken in to visits but are available free from tea bar.

The Visit Hall  has a supervised, well equipped, play area, staffed by qualified playworkers and volunteers; but in times of staff shortage, when play workers are unavailable, the play area may be closed.

The Visitors Centre also has outreach services provided by the Samaritans and CAB running from the Centre. It also provides signposting services for Shelter, Al-anon and other support groups.
