Details are checked at the Visitors' Centre and visitors are issued with a numbered ticket. This determines the order in which Visitors go through the ID and search processes, which will start at approx 1:30pm.
You must book into the Visitors’ Centre no later than 10.30hrs for morning enhanced visits and no later than 2.30pm for afternoon social visits.
Clothing can be handed in or out at Visitors Centre before visit. No cash, cheques or postal orders accepted.
Baby Bottles are allowed in Visit Hall although they must be empty. Most milk formulas are available from tea bar, along with juices, rusks etc. If your baby has special requirements please contact visitors centre. Nappies can’t be taken in to visits but are available free from tea bar. The Visit Hall has a supervised, well equipped, play area, staffed by qualified playworkers and volunteers; but in times of staff shortage, when play workers are unavailable, the play area may be closed.
The Visitors Centre also has outreach services provided by the Samaritans and CAB running from the Centre. It also provides signposting services for Shelter, Al-anon and other support groups. |

IDENTIFICATION
All adult visitors must identify themselves by using one of the following: EC identity card, UK driving licence (photo type) Senior citizen’s public transport pass issued by local authority
employer’s or student ID card (but only if this clearly shows the name and signature of the visitor and has a photograph or signature which can be compared with the visitor’s appearance or signature and if the employer or educational establishment named on the card is known to exist). UK or Naturalisation Certificate Document (eg Rent/Benefits Card) or correspondence from Benefits Agency, Employment Service, Inland Revenue or Local Authority (dated within the last three months) Tenancy agreement Utility Bill dated within the last 3 months (e.g. electricity, gas, water, telephone) Cheque book and credit or debit card (counts as one item for ID and card must be signed) Addressed pay slip P45/P60 Valid NHS card Valid TV Licence Valid Vehicle Registration Document Young Person’s Proof of Age card Valid Trade Union or National Students’ Union Card Library Card (if it has a signature that can be compared with the visitor’s signature), Foreign ID Card or Residents’ Card (other than EC ID cards which are acceptable on their own)
