On arrival you will be given a numbered tag and a locker key. Male visitors will have a number written on their hand. Visits are called by number. You hand in your tag and are given your Visiting Order back which you then take to the main gate for access.

 

The only items you may take to visits are your locker key, Visiting Order and money for refreshments.

Handing In or Collecting Property

All property transactions will be conducted in the Visitors Centre. All incoming property will be sealed in a bag and a receipt given to the visitor, recording the sealed bags own unique seal number. It is permissible for this receipt to be passed to the prisoner on the visit. Property will only be accepted if an application has been submitted by the prisoner to reception and the application has been granted.

All outgoing property will be collected by the visitor before the visit. The property will be sealed in a bag with a receipt attached for a signature by the recipient.



 

Travel Information

Train:
Take a Sheerness bound train and alight at Sheerness Station. The prison is 8 miles from the station. Bus and taxi services are available from here.

Facilities at Sheerness Station: Waiting room (in Booking Hall) and pay phone. The whole station is step free.

Car:

When travelling to the prison by car the Visitors' Car park is about 200 yards from the Visitor's Centre. If you have elderly of infirm passengers there is a setdown area near the Visitors' Centre where you can drop your passengers before parking in the designated car park. The Visitors' Centre is the square red building near the main gate.
