There is a Visitors' Centre offering refreshments and a play area for main prisoners' children in the visits room. This is supervised and managed by The Ormiston Children & Family Trust. It is a No Smoking facility. Disabled access exists to the Visits Rooms with a stair lift available to the Main Visits Hall. Please note property and cash cannot be handed in on Visits. All hand bags, smoking requisites and mobile phones etc, must be stored in the lockers in the visitors centre, or otherwise secured. It is not possible to enter the establishment with these items. Items required for the changing and feeding of infants may be brought in for use during the visiting period. High chairs and carry chairs are available in the visiting hall, as are appropriate changing facilities. A maximum of £20 per visit may be taken into the visits hall to purchase refreshments. HMP Wayland endeavours to provide where ever possible a two hour Social visit, with the national minimum entitlement being a one hour visit per session.

Travel Information

Train to Thetford then

Facilities at Thetford Station: Waiting room, refreshments and toilets. The station is not step free other than from Cambridge. But staff are available to help and there are not normally problems. Phone the helpline (0800 028 28 78) the day before you travel, if you are worried).

There is no regular bus service to Wayland.

Special Transport:
THT Express

THT Express operates a service to HMP Wayland twat weekends.

The weekend trips are on a Sunday unless it is the third weekend of the month, in which case it is a Saturday instead.
