The following is a letter to insidetime, from issue April 2012
The Home Secretary is wondering what to do with Abu Qatada, who is accused of being the ‘spiritual leader of Al-Qaeda in Europe, well Home Secretary I have to say that the answer to this problem is staring you right in the face. Abu Qatada must be made manager of the England football team. Think about it, surveillance would no longer be a problem as he’ll have the press camped on his doorstep and would not get a moment’s peace and his life will be made an absolute misery. If other England managers are anything to go by he will not be able to get out of the country quick enough once he gets sacked. And can you imagine the stick he’d get off the likes of Wayne Rooney during half-time talks.
So, Mr Qatada, you should think yourself lucky that forcing a man to become England manager is classed as cruel and unusual punishment under the Geneva Convention.
